Vor einem Jahr wurden an der Folkwang Universität der Künste und am RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology, New York) die „Embassies for Future Design Perspectives“ gegründet, die am Donnerstag, 02. November, ihre Arbeitsergebnisse vorstellen.
Das von der Stiftung für Innovative Hochschullehre geförderte Projekt wurde von Folkwang Professorin Marion Digel ins Leben gerufen, um Studierenden, Lehrenden und Expert*innen zu ermöglichen, sich mit unterschiedlichen Perspektiven und über Grenzen hinweg im Design auszutauschen, gemeinsam zu forschen, zu experimentieren und zu gestalten.
Die Embassies bieten Studierenden die Möglichkeit, sich als Botschafter*innen ihrer Anliegen und ihrer Gestaltungskultur zu positionieren und an der jeweiligen Partnerhochschule im Ausland einen Design-Workshop zu konzipieren, moderieren und anzuleiten. Die Projekt-Ergebnisse werden unter dem Titel „Future Design Perspectives – International Student Ambassadors“ am Donnerstag, 02. November, von 15 bis 19 Uhr im SANAA-Gebäude, Gelsenkirchener Str. 209, am Campus Welterbe Zollverein präsentiert.
The project FUTURE DESIGN PERSPECTIVES – INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AMBASSADORS is happy to invite you to a presentation of this past year’s work in an exhibition and hybrid event featuring future designers and interdisciplinary design experts.
Highlights of the program will include a presentation of the results of two international design workshops held by our student ambassadors, and the launch of the project’s own design TORCH:LIGHT as an example for practical design research.
The event will culminate in a COFFEE + DIALOGUE panel discussion, experts in design theory and practice will address the research question "Are the ideas of Modernism sufficient to solve 21st Century problems?" The hybrid panel will be open via Zoom to our international partners.
In the exhibition visitors will be able to experience a range of activities, including a light installation, the display of a famous torch by a well-known modernist designer, and the opportunity to meet our guests and design experts who are sure to broaden all of our perspectives.
We invite you to an afternoon full of inspiring perspectives, creative exploration – and, of course, some COFFEE + DIALOGUES I and enjoy some snacks, sparkling wine and inspiring conversation with us!
