A Scherzinger Heinzen is a traditional hay rack which was used to dry grass into hay in former agricultural processes. Today this task is taken over by industrial machines. However, the object itself is fascinating apart from its initial purpose. The simple way of fixing the pieces together to make it collapsible, or the choice of the right material is reminiscent of the Vignelli‘s view on appropriateness in design.

The transferring process of that pre-industrial hay rack with its appropriate details and its characteristic shape into a contemporary object is the main focus for my project. What could be its new assignment?
