The machine park of the woodworking shop at Folkwang University of the Arts is excellently equipped and can easily compete with professional carpentry shops. The woodworking shop includes the machine room and the sanding room. With these facilities, the workshop offers every opportunity to model with wood and wood-based materials. The adjoining model-making workshop/bench room has numerous workbenches and planing benches where you can spread out and work on your projects.
Information for getting started:
In order to use most of the machines, students must complete the Carpentry and Joinery Machine Course 1 (TSM1), which they take at the Chamber of Crafts in the first semester. The bench room is also accessible outside of workshop opening hours with a student ID and can be used without TSM 1.
Important: A general safety training course for the workshops and machines must be completed annually. This always takes place in the winter semester and dates are sent out as invitations to all students.
To supplement the safety training, students can watch videos on the individual machines and download a corresponding PDF, which can be signed and presented to the workshop managers to enable use of the machines.
