Advanced Technology Lab

Room 0.30
atl@folkwang-uni.de

Opening hours: After an introduction
students can use the ATL during the university's entire opening hours.

The Advanced Technology Lab utilizes computer-controlled machines. Prototypes and functional models can be produced.
Experiments are encouraged.

Working with the machines also serves to teach a basic understanding of computer-aided manufacturing technologies and processes. Therefore, whenever possible, the equipment is operated by the students themselves.

Information for getting started

The workshop is open to students of all degree programs. To use the equipment, you must first attend a workshop introduction and receive instruction on how to use the respective machine.

Consumables/costs: The ATL provides materials for some of the 3D printers (Binderjetting, Stratasys). There is a charge for using these printers. For the other FDM printers, please bring your own filament. The standard material used for printing at the ATL is PLA (polylactide). This filament is now available from numerous retailers in reasonably similar quality. When purchasing, choose a filament diameter of 2.8 mm if you want to print with the Ultimakers, and 1.75 mm if you want to print with the MakerBot.
