Prof. Stefan Neudecker is Professor of Design by Technology in the Design Department at Folkwang University of the Arts and has been head of the Industrial Design group since 2017. His teaching activities include interdisciplinary and transmedia design processes, parametric 3D modeling, generative and experimental manufacturing processes, robotic manufacturing, adaptive material systems, mixed reality, physical computing, and visual programming.
Born in Munich, Prof. Stefan Neudecker first studied electrical engineering at the University of Erlangen and then architecture at the Technical University of Braunschweig. He graduated with a degree in architecture in 2007. In addition to freelance work for architectural firms such as realities:united, Graft, and GMP, he has been a research assistant in research and teaching at the Institute for Design, Media, and Representation at the Technical University of Braunschweig since 2008. Since 2011, Prof. Stefan Neudecker has been employed as a research assistant at the Institute for Structural Design (ITE) at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where, in addition to teaching, he has worked on various research projects such as the NTH research group Generative Manufacturing in Construction, which he coordinated. The core of his research activity at the ITE was the development and implementation of the DFG large-scale facility Building Fabrication Laboratory (DBFL), a hybrid manufacturing system for 3D printing of architectural components on a building scale.
