Design and innovation
Good design is the successful combination of technology and cultural context in the form of a usable product and/or service. A tailor-made concept is developed using specifically collected and filtered information. Designers
bring inspiration and anticipation together with context-oriented innovations and transform them into very different solutions using their design skills and knowledge.
Teaching
In the field of Design & Innovation, future designers learn both the basics of various materials and manufacturing processes as well as a wide range of methods. Based on various semester topics, students are guided to explore their own design process. The aim is to enable students to make manufacturing and material-appropriate decisions in the design process and to open up new applications through experimentation. Together with cooperation partners from industry and research, Design & Innovation offers semester projects that explore the interplay between sustainable lifestyles, new technologies, and cultural contexts.
Research
The core competence of the working group lies in the integration of new technologies and cultural qualities into the design development of products and services. A methodical approach enables a professional, transdisciplinary way of working in collaboration with biologists, engineers, psychologists, and ergonomists, thus achieving maximum flexibility. This results in new applications and perspectives for both technologies and cultural contexts.
