JV1—Leaning Bench
Die JV1 ist ein Semesterprojekt von Valentin Lude und mir. Einfache Dachlatten und eine besondere Lackierung sollten das Kernelement dieser Bank werden. Die Farbgebung das Stilmittel für die Kommunikation und Interaktion mit dessen Umgebung. Die größte Besonderheit für uns war jedoch, nicht auf zwei weitere stützende Beine für die Bank angewiesen zu sein. Für den nötigen Halt ist lediglich eine stabile Wand erforderlich, gegen welche die Bank angelehnt werden kann. Ein Wegrutschen ist aufgrund der aufgebrachten Reibung am Boden ausgeschlossen. Die Kolorierung macht das Möbel vor allem im eingeklappten Zustand und dicht an die Wand geschoben zu einem kleinen Kunstwerk. Die flache Konstruktion bietet dabei den Vorteil viel Platz einzusparen solange die Bank nicht benötigt wird. Die Farbgestaltung und flache Konstruktion wollten wir allerdings nicht nur als Kunstwerk in einem „White Cube“ verstehen, sondern es auch in unserem täglichen Umfeld platzieren. Als Möbel für unser Zuhause, kleine Balkone, und schmale Gänge.
A second semester project together with Valentin Lude was about creating furniture by only using simple laths to build it up. Using an unique colouration, this furniture should communicate or interact with its environment. What made it special for us at that time was the fact that we only needed something to lean the bench on. A separate supporting leg wasn’t required we only used the friction of the bench to gain stability. The colouration and the furniture’s simple structure led to the visual appearance of a small piece of art. Due to its flat construction it is possible to push the bench close to the wall while it is not in use. That wasn't only space saving but gave us the possibility of a more creative design by colour as well. Our furniture shouldn't be recognized as furniture at first glance but guarantee a surprising moment when turning out to be one. At the same time we didn't want it to be only predestinated for the "White Cube" but also suited for our daily environment, our home, small balconies or hallways.
